A boost for the local community (and visitors from further afield)

We have launched a Crowdfunding appeal to help transform a perimeter of paddocks containing llamas into an area where members of the public can drop by to watch llamas, and relax. on JustGiving Chrome cached 2016-09-22 14:58:36Z IP-0A326447 v1.0.649.0

We have 9 llamas and have many people wishing to visit them /react-text

react-text: 116 One paddock runs alongside the perimeter of our home and the road. There is a large mound which the llamas love to play on; it provides them with a fantastic view of their surroundings and it provides passing traffic with a view of them. People walking along the road regularly stop to watch the llamas, but the traffic is very fast along Walton Road, and there is no pavement. /react-text

This would be the view from the proposed viewing area

react-text: 120 The area that I would like to transform runs in between the inner paddock fence and the outer fence to our

home. It is currently lined with fir trees. It contains many boulders, rocks, old wooden fencing and weeds. The area measures approximately 10x40m. I would like to completely clear this area, cut back the fir trees at the bottom to allow seating with shade from wind, rain or sun. The area will be levelled and paved to allow disabled access. Wooden benches will be installed. An existing small wooden structure will be renovated and made into toilet facilities. An entrance will be installed from the road.

This area will be useful in two ways:

/react-text react-text: 126

Who will benefit?

1) As a 'Creative Minds' location - ‘Come and Find your Creative Mind’. People needing to find inspiration can drop by to sit and contemplate their next project – a way to clear a muddy mind perhaps!

/react-text react-text: 129 2) Members of the public who are feeling stressed, anxious, over-worked, tired or sad, or people who just love llamas, can visit to spend time alongside the llamas. 'Want to feel calmer? Come watch a llama!' It has been scientifically proven that being around llamas stimulates a release of endorphin and a sense of calm and well being, it can help reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. It can also increase self-esteem and improve social skills. /react-text

There will be no charge to visit this area, to watch our llamas five days per week, from 7am – 7pm on Mondays,

Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays (closed Thurs/Fri)

/react-text react-text: 136 Any funds remaining in the crowdfunding pot will be used to transform an existing wooden structure to provide WC facilities and then to extend the visitors’ viewing area to the rear paddock fence where we currently have a small number of fruit trees growing.

Everyone that makes a donation or volunteers can opt to have their name or their company name published on the Information Board at the entrance to the seating/viewing area. A major sponsor would have their details added to a plaque on a seating bench.

Volunteers also required to assist with the transformation on this site. If you have a weekend spare and are willing to offer your community spirit, please get in touch with me by email or phone on 07890 025064.
